Big Red

Acrylicl Painting

The first painting in this series, in a series of over 100 paintings. All of them had the same theme: still life bowl and flowers in heavy impasto acrylic and primary colors. The execution is very loose and fluid.

The series paintings, which measured 18 x 24 in., were sold for about $500 each, framed, at the Cory Gallery at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco.

The first version, on an 18 x 24 inch canvas, unframed, was sold at the Starving Artists show at San Antonio for a mere $15. The second painting was completed under the guidance of Mel Casas and measures 49 x 64 inches!

Naturally, we called it the 'Big Red'.
